Dave + Josephine SDE // MEMORY BOX

PG: Colin (Timeless Romance)
LOC: Grand Copthorne Waterfront

This is the first chinese MV that we have done and probably the most elaborate effort so far. Dave and Jo really wanted something unique and unique it was. The song was written especially for them and sang by themselves. Pretty cool right?

Local artist Lorraine Tan composed the song and it was performed by Wedding Harmony. The concept was based on their true story of their habit of collecting their memories in a box. Lorraine had written the song with their story in mind and that helped the storyboard a lot.

The video was shot in Singapore and Australia and to top it up, we included same day wedding footage for their lunch reception. What a wrap!

Eldrid + Ninik NDE

LOC: Nativity Church

Eldrid and Ninik are from Indonesia. Their love for each other was so apparant and it was very sweet to capture their loving moments. Being from a different country there were certain little things that were different from our usual ways. One outstanding experience was to shoot with 4 photographers! Coupled with the 2 of us it was like a paparrazzi thing ha ha…

Gordon + Junne SDE

PG: Kwang (Lightbox)
LOC: Marina Mandarin

Gordon and Junne at long time lovers (although they are very young!) and it was a very heartening event to see they tie the knot. This wedding would be fondly remember by our team as one of the most crazy SDE we have done in so far. The church ceremony ended at 4.30pm and the SDE was rolled out at 9.20pm inclusive of sniplets of the 1st March in. Kinda crazy to make such an attempt but I always wondered what the limits were for SDE =p .Kudos to Kwang for helping us with the small things that made the day a lot easier.

Shao Wei + Yi Fang SDE

PG: Kelvin (Avenue Eight)
LOC: Orchard Mandarin

A beautiful day after the bad weather on Sat. Shao Wei and his brothers sprung a sneak attack coordinated with Kelvin. The sisters were really shocked and the reaction was hilarious!

James + Yuwen SDE // HISTORY

PG: Ezra Koh (Inspiration Photography)
LOC: Mandarin Orchard

James and Yuwen were our couple for the Mayad Academy in Singapore earlier this year. I had a great time with them and today was the 4th time we worked together. It really felt like a friend’s wedding. James is one of the most sporting groom we ever worked with. He can really dance! Yuwen is basically model material and the ideal bride every story teller would love. We are really thankful the skies came out clear today. This is prob our longest SDE to date but their wedding vows were touching so I decided to break our SDE duration limit for the first time. Their condensed pre wed had a really simple theme about FATE. Some people meet each other without knowing but if it is fated, you will eventually meet one day.

To all the lonely hearts out there, do not despair, your destiny will come, just like them.

Canon C300 or RED Scarlet X?

What a day! Canon VS Bazooka? So we now have 2 awesome new cameras in the S35 arena. R we one step closer to making movie quality wedding videos? Hmm not really as the price of SGD 20K (by the time it is usable) will put everyone off. Most wedding videographers here have caught on the DSLR bug and one could start with as low as SGD1500, why pay so much more? The specs are really sexy (in particular the Scarlet X which allows us to shoot in 4K > imagine a cinema size wedding video???). Anyway until I get a hands on I would be inclined to wait out for a short while more. All I would confirm is our investment in EF lens is very worth it. We now have 2 options.

How does it concern U, the wedding couple. Well the reality is DSLRs have limitations and they need skilled folks to operate to ensure everything goes well. Cameras like this need even higher skilled operators BUT, you wouldnt worry about recording halts, etc. It can get a little technical but anyway, story telling remains no 1 and gear is to support that.

While I was still thinking about the way ahead, lucky me got a call tonight and got to try the lovely 1Dx. Sorry no footages for u but I would say you would think that the 5D2 is a little basic after fiddling with the 1Dx. Everything looks and feel good, not to mention the superb ISO performance. F2.8 lens suddenly got a lot more viable in dark ballrooms.

Conclusion:
Should it be:
2 x 1Dx
1 x RED Scarlet X + 5D2
1 x Canon C300 + 5D2

Whatever it turns out to be, U the wedding couple would be the one to benefit =)

Staged Weddings?

The desire for perfect videos has got so crazy that entire weddings can be staged! Not that it happened to us but some of our friends have been experiencing a tad too many of these recently. Folks who would like that perfect dream wedding documented, only for playback on the REAL wedding. The staged wedding is extremely elaborate and usually done in exotic destinations with meticulous preparations from deco to gifts to guests. As story tellers, our forte is to capture real moments and package it into a beautiful and memorable piece. Emotions essentially is the magic behind all the videos and without that, something is just missing!

Canon 1Dx arrives!!

Just when I thought that I have bought most of the stuff I need the cycle begins again. Canon has rolled out one sexy camera with nice enhancements to the video capability. Intra frame video format and lovely lifting of the 4Gb limitation. 61 AF points, blazing 12fps and a mind blowing ISO51k!!!

Wait a minute but hold your horses for 3rd Nov. That would be the D day for the future (hopefully). Canon please dun let us down that day!!

Chee Hui + Xiufang SDE

PG: Kwang (Lightbox Productions)
LOC: Swissotel the Stamford Hotel

What do you do when you have old secondary school friends getting hitched? Get everyone to dress in school uniform and top it up with a VW Camper! We decided to do a little pre wed built into the SDE instead of following the event. It would have been a breeze to cut an edit from the variety of the games but we decided to do more this time. Check out the video ^^ And oh yes, it was quite interesting to see the cool shots that Kwang got that day from his new found obsession with flash photography under the hot sun!

Thanks to Kwang for the thumbnail photo for the video above!

Joseph + Eugenia NDE

PG: Daniel Beh
Loc: Shangri-La Hotel

This was the first wedding live worms were used! No problem for the band of brothers =) Great fun shooting with Daniel but the 10 car entourage was real tough to shoot when they were all 2L and above!
