How do I make my Wedding Dinner interesting?

I was thrown this questions few days ago. Very interesting. You see, the typically chinese dinner is a formula:

8 cse dinner + March in x2 + Speech x1 + Round Table photo xX tables + Cake cutting x1+ Champagne Toasting x1 + Guest Farewell (exp)* = Dinner

Quite boring honestly.. we figured out we should shoot some other contents to make it better. So when I had the lovely chance to influence the couple, it got me thinking. From a video perspective I would love to add to the equation:

1st Dance + Singing

This two items never fail to move me (of cse they have to be done reasonably well). I’m still thinking about it but over doing it may end up like a D&D. So my advice is, keep it under control and limit the activities. Its a wedding, not a show rite?

Choosing a JP???

Frankly choosing a JP is like playing jackpot. Some of them are awesome, some of them erh.. I’m not sure I wish to name some (which I think are pretty good) because it is all subjective. May be I’ll cut a video edit of the various ones we have come across ya? You decide for your self. Will take some time so hang in there. Forums might not be the best place to check. The so called popular ones may not be what you like really.

So far the most impressionable one is a lady (full timer). She is quick and pretty solemn but funny too. Dun remember her name unfortunately but I’ll find out. There was one other guy which i liked a lot but i didnt get his name too!!!

Music Copyright Conference

RIPS called up and we decided to work together to organise a free conference to educate fellow video/photo creators on music copyright infringement. This is a critical turning point in Singapore as it would take us to a higher level morally, and also impact pricing due to the licence fees.

I think some would still be playing hide and seek but the outcome could be ugly. This is the last opportunity for everyone before a new wave of “terror” would spread. Kinda scary but I guess enforcement is for the good of the industry. How are we going to get new songs if people are not paid? I had the same experience years ago when my video production was ripped off by some taxi driver which sold our videos!!

One happening inter-race marriage with a mix of customs and wedding lunch 13hours in a row. 22 bros + sis and an army of photographers+videographers was one chaotic event. We grabbed whatever we could! Highlights wun be ready in a while but its going to be cool…

A project I did back in 2007.. its been such a long time but sometimes I miss those days when I just shot whatever i liked. With added responsibilities as I progress in life, we have to give up some things along the way BUT… anything is worth it… for the family =)
